The success of Touchstones Nelson is dependent on our volunteers. We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of active volunteers, of all ages, who share their interests, expertise and time with us. Volunteering is a great way to gain experience in a not for profit art gallery, museum and archives setting and to give back to your community.
What Our Volunteers Do
All Touchstones Nelson volunteers are trained and supervised by staff. Some volunteers help out in our archives, at our reception desk and gift shop. Like history? We provide training to give tours to adult and school groups. Volunteers also help out with events like opening receptions and fundraisers, help take down and install exhibitions and help us look after our beautiful heritage building.
Some volunteer jobs require a weekly commitment. Some volunteer jobs come up once a month or two. We spend the time to get to know all of our volunteer candidates and make every effort to find the volunteer job that suits you best.
How to Become a Volunteer
Touchstones Nelson usually holds a new volunteer orientation once a year. The time of this orientation fluctuates depending on our needs. If you would like to join us for our next orientation please fill out an application form and you will be contacted.
Occasionally, we do bring on volunteers throughout the year, again depending on our needs. If possible, please attach a resume or letter of interest to your application form describing your skills and interests and drop this off at our admissions desk. Please realize that Touchstones Nelson has a limited number of projects that require volunteer work. Be assured that if we find an opportunity that suits you, we will do our best to add your name to our list of amazing volunteers.
