Captured Power – Hydroelectric Projects from the Stevens Studio Collection

Art Stevens and Jane Sloan owned and operated Stevens Studio in Nelson, British Columbia from the 1940s to the late 1980s. Their photographs have been seen in many publications, including Life magazine. This collection contains a well-documented array of images depicting large industrial projects, scenic landscapes of the West Kootenay, commercial portraits and scenes of the daily lives of Orthodox and Reformed Doukhobors, as well as, Nelson businesses.

Images from the Stevens Collection related to the Doukhobor people in the West Kootenay are available online through the Society’s Flickr Photostream account.
